Basic
Science Mysteries
Grades
7 and 8
 This
is a study of general science. The vocabulary and content are appropriate
for grades eight and nine. Essential academic elements are aligned with
Arizona, Texas and other states and NCLB objectives regarding origin of
life and general science. The style is unique in that each lesson includes
segments of adventure similar to the episodes of Nancy Drew and The Hardy
Boys. Readers follow an engaging narrative and plot that requires application
of scientific and positive life principles to solve mysteries. The characters
practice moral restraint and personal responsibility to help civic officials
reduce crime and upgrade community standards. This narrative approach
engages students, drawing them through the course with minimum dependence
on teachers. The course serves a triple academic purpose: addresses 8th
grade science standards, is applicable as a reading enhancement course,
and prepares students for assessment exams. (3 ring binder not included)
